"Kowanda McBride Takes Army Wife Network's 2012 Household 6!"

Army Wife Network & Kathy Peel, "America's Family Manager," aim to strengthen military families and granted 1 AWN community member a Family Manager University scholarship to become a Certified Family Manager Coach in order to do so.

LAWTON, OK, January 15, 2012 /United States PR News/ -- Army spouse Kowanda McBride begins duties as Army Wife Network's Household 6 (HH6) for 2012. Army Wife Network and Kathy Peel, "America's Family Manager," aim to strengthen military families and granted one lucky AWN community member a Family Manager University scholarship to become a Certified Family Manager Coach in order to do so. Kowanda won the title after submitting an online entry form at Armywifenetwork.com where she was judged against dozens of other competitors last fall.

Kowanda has been married to her soldier for 11 years. Kowanda feels that a quote from Martha Summerhayes just about sums it up for her life: "I had cast my lot with a Soldier and where he was, was home to me." She and her husband, Ryan, have one son together.

Although busy manning the home front, Kowanda deems herself a professional volunteer within her military community and is passionate about empowering others to make the most of their military family life too. In her years as an Army wife, Kowanda has been a Family Readiness Group (FRG) leader, an Army Family Team Building (AFTB) Instructor, Red Cross volunteer, and an Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) process participant. She also assists the local animal facility and her son's school.

It is no strange occurrence in the military to hear the term "Household 6" when referring to the one in charge of the household and Kowanda personifies the title. Militarily inspired, the 6 following a given name signifies the Commander in charge. No matter the name, Household 6s (similarly deemed Family Managers in the "civilian world") are heavily relied upon to ensure the Home front is functional, balanced and nurturing. Kowanda and the other CFMCs on AWN's team can be consulted to ensure that if yours is not, it can be!

As the HH6, she plans to share the insight and knowledge gained from her personal experiences as a military wife as well as the knowledge gained via "Family Manager University." You can follow her progress, gain valuable advice, and contact our coaches at ArmyWifeNetwork.com, our blog LovingASoldier.com, or both Family Manager's and Army Wife Network's facebook pages.

Represented in the contest prize package as well were military supporters USAA, Jane Wayne Gear, and WireACake. Debora George of WireACake expressed a common sentiment; "We appreciate all our military families and understand that sending packages is an expression of love and support. Thank you AWN for the sweet opportunity to be an All American Sponsor." Debora and AWN were both pleased when Kowanda in turn donated back her WireACake to a currently deployed soldier. Just one more example of why AWN is proud of their 2012 Household 6 choice. Enlist Kowanda and our other coaches to help you get organized and improve your military family life today.
